Abstract Neon Snowflakes feat. Bliss Polish - Press sample

Winter is typically filled with darker colors, so I decided to flip things upside down with some bright, abstract snowflake nail art. While I love vampy colors, sometimes I long for brighter things.


For this look I started with a base of Bliss Polish Let's Glow Girl. My photos show three thin coats topped with a top coat. Once that dried I started dotting my nails with the Bliss Polish Winter / Holiday 2017 collection.


While my polka dots were drying I stamped my abstract snowflakes using Bliss Polish Merriment & Cheer. I just love how they turned out!

Vintage Ornaments | Ehmkay Nail x Polished Lifting Winter Nail Art Challenge - Press sample

I hate to admit it, but I'm not one of those oh-my-gosh-Christmas-is-so-exciting kind of people. I love the lights, and the holiday spirit, but there's so much pressure involved! That said, I really appreciate all of the holiday (not just Christmas) decorations that can be seen around town this time of year. One of the things I really adore are those vintage ornaments. While I would love to own a few, that will likely never happen because I love my kitties even more. Cats + breakable items are a no-go. Instead, I decided to settle for vintage ornaments in nail art form!


For this look I started with a base of  Morgan Taylor Caviar On Ice and an accent of Bliss Polish Sparkling Wishes on my ring finger.


The ornaments were created using Morgan Taylor Ice Cold Gold, Bliss Polish Dazzling Snow, and Sparkling Wishes. It's a modern (holo) meets vintage kind of look.

I have some throwback nail art to share with you guys today. This never made it to a blog post last spring (yikes!) like I originally intended. I adore neons so it kills me that I had to sit on these for so long! This look features the Bliss Polish Spring Break collection that released last spring. These neons are no longer available, but there are a ton of gorgeous shades in her shop right now.

Holiday Light Nail Art | Ehmkay Nail x Polished Lifting Winter Nail Art Challenge - Press sample

One of the best things about this time of year are the massive light displays that can be seen around town. While we keep things fairly low-key at home, I thought it would be fun to take the lights to my nails for today's prompt. I was absolutely certain I had a light image on one of my stamping plates, but I was clearly mistaken. In a moment of panic I realized I was going to have to freehand this one.


For this look I started with a base of Morgan Taylor My Main Freeze. I topped that off with Ice Cold Gold to add more depth to my background. The string of lights were all created with various Morgan Taylor shades from past collections.

I debated on what colors to use for the lights, but since I'm a non-traditional kind of person I decided to brighten things up a tad.

It's time for the second prompt in the Ehmkay Nail x Polished Lifting Winter Nail Art Challenge. If you haven't joined the nail art challenge, but you are still interested, feel free to join anytime! We are happy to have anyone join us throughout the challenge.

Today's prompt for the #ehmXplART challenge is candy! For me, candy canes are one of the most classic candies this time of year. Instead of sticking with the traditional peppermint colors I wanted to toss it up a bit with some green candy canes.


For this look I started with a base of Morgan Taylor Don't Let the Frost Bite. While I was waiting for the base color to dry I worked on the candy canes. I stamped those in white and let them fully dry on the stamper head. Once the white was dry, I filled out the stripes using a neon green. Those had to be set aside to fully dry, so I moved on to the glitter portion of this mani.


Over selected purple nails I painted on a coat of American Classics Yellow Stopper. When that was nearly dry (but still tacky) I gently burnished the unicorn/mermaid glitter into the nail. This requires a light hand to avoid smudging the whole mani.


At this point I transitioned back to my accent nails and applied a quick dry top coat. When the top coat was nearly dry (but still tacky) I gently transferred the candy canes using the stamper. After that I topped the entire mani with a top coat and was good to go!
