Monday, December 04, 2017Christmas Tree Meringue Cookies + Nail Art | 25 Sweetpeas Christmas Cookie Mani Swap
This year I had the privilege to join a handful of other nail bloggers for a Christmas Cookie Mani Swap. This fun idea was created by Sarah of 25 Sweetpeas. She put an incredible amount of work into this collaboration, and it really shows. All eight manis and corresponding recipes can be found in one convenient pdf. Christmas Tree Meringue Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 C sugar
- 4 egg whites (at room temp)
- a pinch of cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- round sprinkles
- green gel food coloring
Directions
- Heat egg whites, sugar, and cream of tartar in a bowl using the double boiler method over boiling water. Whisk vigorously just until sugar is fully dissolved.
- Remove bowl from heat and whisk mixture on medium high to high until whites turn bright white. The mixture should still be runny at this point.
- Add the desired amount of food coloring, and then continue whisking until stiff peaks form.
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees and prep a cookie sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
- While the oven preheats, transfer mixture to a piping bag with small or large star tip. Pipe trees to be 1" in diameter and about 2" tall. Leave .5" to 1" space between each tree.
- Place cookie sheet in oven and bake for 2 hours. After two hours, crack the door and leave meringues in the oven for an additional 2 hours. This step is vital to avoid cracking.
- Serve with milk or coffee and enjoy!
Products used
- Bliss Polish - Down In Key Lime Go
- Morgan Taylor - All White Now, Potts of Tea
- Zoya - Courtney, Hunter
