Born Pretty Store Galaxy Holo Flakies
Tuesday, October 10, 2017Born Pretty Store Galaxy Holo Flakies - Press sample
I've finally jumped on the loose holo flakie train thanks to Born Pretty Store. I had been avoiding the loose flakies for a while now since I don't use gel polish. After playing around with a few sticky clear coats I discovered you can kind of mimic the look you would get with gel. This look was inspired by Cosmetic Sanctuary who figured out how to use powders with regular polish.
For this look I started with a base of Morgan Taylor Little Black Dress. Once that dried I applied a coat of American Classics Yellow Stopper to a single nail. Once this was nearly dry but still slightly tacky (no smudge-able, but just tacky enough to see a fingerprint) you gently rub flakies into the nail. You want to do this in one direction to get the flakies to lay flat. As you can see, my application isn't perfect, and flakies end up EVERYWHERE.
Both photos above are shown without top coat. The photo below is with a top coat. Unfortunately, all of the top coats I tested kill the holo flare. While I would rather not top coat this mani, it's entirely necessary if you don't want to get holo flakies everywhere.
