Reverie Nail Lacquer- Daydream
Wednesday, September 03, 2014I first discovered Reverie Nail Lacquer back when they were still Two Gypsies. I had seen swatches, but never took the plunge for some odd reason. When I was given the opportunity to swatch for Reverie, I was over the moon. I loved her colors so much that I purchased full sized bottles of most of the colors she sent for review, and the LE custom "Daydream".
A lot of people make glitter bombs, but I usually stay away from them unless they are something special. Many glitter toppers feel as though random bits of glitter were mixed together as the result of an accident rather than being planned out. Some of those work out (neon glitters and such) but many feel lackluster. I feel as though Reverie plays the color palette to her advantage by creating mixes that embody a single section of the color wheel. It makes a powerful statement when done correctly.
Daydream is a light blue jelly packed with various blue glitters and a sprinkling of pink and yellow glitter. Like many glitter packed jellies, this was a bit thicker than your typical jelly or glitter bomb. Once you get a feel for the massive amount of glitter the brush picks up it is easy to manipulate the glitter into place. The formula isn't goopy, but rather thick because the glitter clings together. It's difficult to put into words, but it's certainly manageable. Pictured above is three coats with no base color.
Polishes used: Revierie- Daydream, Poshe- Top Coat, Elmers Glue Base Coat, Orly- Bonder
Daydream is no longer available, but Reverie has a ton of stunning colors worth checking out. Her prices are on the low side for an indie, so you really can't go wrong with that!

This polish is packed with glitter. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! There's something magical, mythical, about those glitters. Daydream, such a spot on name!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad my first order is on its way to me! Now I'm extra excited. ^_^
And I totally know what you mean about glitterbombs. At first I couldn't handle them (like did you sweep all the glitter off the floor and bottle it?) But Model City Polish & Scofflaw brought me around with their amazingly planned out combinations. A whole new world opened up!
I'm wearing this right now! It goes really well with MCP's Cold Snap.
ReplyDeleteI need to wear this color already! Gorgeous swatch, as always!
