Finger Lickin' Lacquer- Family Don't End With Blood Part 2

Tuesday, May 06, 2014

Hey guys! I'm back with part two of the Family Don't End With Blood collection by Finger Lickin' Lacquer. The collection was inspired by the tv show Supernatural. The colors I reviewed are scented, but you have the option to order them unscented. If you missed part one of the collection you can find it here.

Oh, Baby

Oh, Baby is a black, leather scented holo. This color was inspired by Dean Winchester's Impala. The formula was a nice consistency and only required two coats to achieve full coverage. If you were super careful you might be able to get away with one thicker coat. The scent was moderately stronger than the other polishes I used. It definitely reminded me of leather car interior. It was easy to smell this through the top coat.

Hello Boys

Hello Boys is a black polish with red shimmer that gives it kind of a purpley-black sheen. This color was inspired by Crowley. The scent is described as sort of sweet, sort of tart, and likable despite all efforts to the contrary. It took two coats to achieve full coverage and I found the formula to be a bit on the thick side. It wasn't hard to work with, it was just a smidge thicker than I prefer. The scent is hard to describe, but it was sweet with a punch which was strangely pleasant.

Knight of Hell

Knight of Hell is a red holo that smells like sweet leather and floral notes. This color was inspired by Abaddon, his pretty face and his terrible attitude. The consistency was nice and only required two coats for full coverage. The scent was sweet with a punch and could be smelled through the top coat.

Moose

Moose is a green scattered holo that smells like earthy woods, trees and nature. This color was inspired by Sam Winchester and the nickname Crowley gave him. The formula was a bit thick for a holo but it was definitely workable. I personally thought the smell was earthy and kind of reminded me of cucumber melon mixed with an outdoorsy smell. It was sweet, fresh and enjoyable. The scent can be smelled through the top coat, but it was light.

Call Me Meg

Call Me Meg is an aqua holo with a cucumber melon scent. This color was inspired by Meg, the demon with a bit of a heart. I used two coats to achieve full coverage, but I found this formula to be a little thick for a holo. It was easy to work with, but just wasn't what I was expecting consistency wise. The scent smelled exactly like cucumber melon and could be smelled through the top coat.

I was really impressed with the continuity of the theme throughout this collection. I feel like Finger Lickin' Lacquer did a great job translating her Supernatioral inspirations into a full collection. Out of all the colors and scents I reviewed, my favorite has to be Hunter's Helper.

This collection will launch on May 20th to coincide with the final episode of season nine. All polishes retail for $8.50 each, but you can save 10% by using the code SEASONTEN on any purchase over $10.

  3. The holos! Gah! Splendid.
I'm quite curious about polish that smells like leather or whisky. I think my Dad would totally dig it. All they need is cigar scent.
