I'm back with more treats from The Butters Hygienics! This time I had the opportunity to try out the Tres Butters Bars from their soap products and they are just as nice as I had hoped they would be.
Before we dig into the soaps, I wanted to talk about The Butters Hygienics Co. All products made by The Butters Hygienics Co. Are 100% vegan which makes them a great place to shop for anyone under the sun. They make a wide range of personal care items, which makes their website a one stop shop for anything you may need. I previously had the opportunity to try out a couple of scrubs as well as the cuticle oil and only have good things to say about them! On top of all that they are a LGBTQIA+ friendly shop and give back to their local community regularly.
The Butters Hygienics has a nice assortment of Tres Butters Bars to choose from including a Lavender Honey bar and even a Fragrance Free option. I often prefer scented items, but it's nice to see a Fragrance Free option available in their lineup. With so many scents available it was hard to decide which ones sounded most appealing. In the end I picked the Champagne Problems bar and the Pamplemousse Rose bar because the scents sounded so indulgent.
The Pamplemousse Rose Tres Butters Bar is a limited edition creation packed with rose buds. The scent is a bright, citrus mix of grapefruit, mandarin, pear, and California lemon with a touch of rose and peony. It's more citrus leaning than it is floral which creates a nice balance without being overly floral. I don't tend to reach for items that are straight floral with the exception of an occasional lavender pick. This was exactly what I hoped it would be in terms of scent.
Looking at the bar I'm sure you can guess how moisturizing this is just with that photo. It is greasy straight out of the packaging, but the bar itself is moisturizing in the shower without being oily. The ingredients list is packed with all the good stuff:
Ingredients: Sorbitol, Coconut Oil, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Rose buds, iron oxide, fragrance, Titanium Dioxide
From the unique scent down to the moisturizing, yet cleansing formula I would give this bar a 9/10. I only dock 1/10 because I'm still undecided if I love or hate "bits" of things in beauty products. I know they're found in a lot of things, and they are gently exfoliating, but I'm lazy and hate fishing them out of the shower trap.
The second bar I got to try was the Champagne Problems Tres Butters Bar. It has that luxe champagne scent thanks to an exclusive blend with oleoresin. The look is all finished off with a butterscotch caramel shimmer to make it feel extra special. I have to say that the overall look of this bar got me. It's just enough shimmer to be fun without feeling like I'm taking a full on mica bath.
The ingredients list is much like the Pamplemousse Bar, but has mica added. If you like the formula of any of these bars I guarantee you'll enjoy the others.
The main differences between the two bars are the scents and that light bit of exfoliation offered by the rose buds in the Pamplemousse bar.
For me, I personally enjoyed Champagne Problems just a touch more because there weren't any "bits" in it, so I give this one a 10/10.
All of the bars in the Tres Butters line are 4oz and have around 20+ uses. To get the most out of your Tres Butters Bar (or any bar soap really) I recommend storing it vertically in a well-draining dish or shower rack out of direct water spray. This will prevent the bar from degrading from water contact and pooling.
After giving both Tres Butters bars a try I would definitely purchase these scents again in the future. I would also love to see the Tres Butters line expanded to include more scents. I'm a huge fan of bar soap and often buy a bunch to gift during the holidays and for special occasions.
There are so many different products available on The Butters Hygienics website that it could get a little overwhelming. Instead of leaving you with analysis paralysis I thought I would give you a sample routine I would pickup if I loaded up my basket right now:
- First I'd kick things off with the Mojito Raw Sugar x Key Lime Scrub. I still have a little bit in my shower and I love using it as a exfoliating shave prep.
- Second I'd pickup the Satsuma Guava Silkening Botanicals Shampoo Bar. I have not yet tried this or any shampoo bar but I've heard great things about them.
- Next I'd grab the Pamplemousse Rose Tres Butters Bar because who doesn't enjoy a nice bar soap?
- Finally I'd wrap it up with the Satsuma Guava Aloe x Shea Body Moisturizer. If you're going to exfoliate or cleanse your skin it's worth the time to add moisture back to it. That's how you get nice, supple skin.
