Emerald & Ash Life In Color Review

Friday, July 11, 2014

I personally decided to live dangerously and swatched these without a base coat, but if you are going to wear them Emerald & Ash recommend wearing a base coat to prevent staining. Everyone's body chemistry is different, so despite passing the stain test, these could cause slight staining given the right chemical interaction.

Emerald and Ash Life in Color Bees?

Bees? is a neon yellow cream with light pink and holographic shimmer. The pink shimmer was impossible to capture on camera, so you will have to just trust me on that one. It's really subtle and not as noticeable as the shimmer in KBShimmer's Teal another Tail, but it is certainly a nice addition. The formula on this was a smidge on the thick side, but it wasn't hard to work with. It is incredibly important that you allow it to dry enough in between coats otherwise you will create drag. Pictured above is three coats with no base color. As you can see, the yellow is intense!

Tomato Tomato is a red polish consisting of red and gold flakes. It's seriously pigmented and looks gorgeous with three coats. This color was also hard to capture, but I think the different lighting helps highlight how Tomato Tomato transforms in different lighting. The formula was easy to work with and spread nicely. The only thing worth noting is that because this is made up of flakes, it is important to pay attention to how it applies to the tips of your nails. The flakes occasionally extended past my fingertip, but that was easily resolved with a quick swipe of the brush.

Snozzberries is a rich blue/purple jelly loaded with iridescent squares and red dots. It's dark, mysterious and transforms in different lighting. The changes are subtle, but they are certainly noticeable. Pictured above is three coats with no base color. The formula was easy to work with and the square glitter applied evenly. The top photo shows it under diffused daylight bulbs, the middle in direct sun, and the bottom in shade. The iridescent glitters really change in different lighting situations.

All the colors were lovely, but Snozzberries really caught my eye. Who doesn't Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original of course!). The Life in Color collection is currently available for preorder, but they will not ship until July 21st. Please visit Emerald & Ash when you get a moment and show them some love.

Thank you, only the original Willy Wonka will do. The remake did nothing for me.
