Small Batch Wax Haul and Customer Service Review

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

Today's post is a newer indie/vendor wax company called Small Batch Wax. I initially discovered Small Batch Wax on Instagram while browsing one of the wax related hashtags. Before we dive into the individual scent reviews there are a few things I want to address.

When I placed my order each listing advertised that each piece would weigh 1.5-1.7 ounces. My order arrived not long after, and it was painfully small compared to expectation. I decided to weigh out each piece. On average each piece weighted .80oz to .85oz. I contacted the seller, and she refunded my order (without my asking), and pulled her website temporarily stating that her scale must be off. When her website returned the listings no longer had weights, but everything else stayed the same. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this since all other vendors list weights, but I just wanted to throw that info out there.

Amount used: 1/2 rectangle (about .42oz)
Price: $1.50 for .80-.85oz, or about $1.88 per oz
Would I repurchase: Unlikely
Notes: This almost has more of a floral blackberry to it than actual blackberries.

Toasted Marshmallow & Caramel

Amount used: 1/2 rectangle (about .42oz)

Vanilla Sugar

Vanilla Sugar wax melt

Warmer used: AmbiEscents Snowman - 25 watt lightbulb
Amount used: 2 hexigons

Notes: This has the same odd smell as the Toasted Marshmallow & Caramel. It makes me wonder if her vanilla may be the "odd smell" I keep detecting.

As you can see, I had an overall mixed experience with Small Batch Wax. I do appreciate that she refunded my order, but I'm not sure how I feel about weights not being available on listings. Some of the scents were quite nice while others weren't my taste or didn't have a great throw. I would be happy to try her wax again but her wax is substantially more per ounce than the other vendors I frequent, so she's not high on my repurchase list.

Another item to note - I purchased individual bars of the same scent (intending to give them as gifts) but they were packaged three together when they arrived. This was inconvenient and I ended up needing to pack different scents together to make things work. I've never encountered this with another vendor, so I don't know if this is considered normal practice.

Small Batch Wax has a rotating assortment of scents listed on her website linked below. She often lists new scents and sneak peeks on her Instagram page.
